David Glasgow Farragut
(1801-1870) Admiral Farragut, was the first senior officer of the
U.S. Navy at the time of the American Civil War. He is
also the first Admiral of the U.S. Navy. Famous
quote: "Damn the torpedoes...Full speed ahead."

Museum in Knoxville, Tennessee in November 2008. |

Stockdale Admiral
Stockdale is known as the Prisoners' of War Spiritual Leader.

Raymond Ames Spruance (1886-1969)
Admiral Spruance developed the strategic plan to retake the
South Pacific Inlands and invade Japan. While planning to
defend the U.S. from invasion by Germany and Japan, the
Secretary of the Navy made a uniform change requiring officers
to change their hat emblem so the eagle would be looking the
other way. In silent protest, Spruance never changed his
emblem. His bio is called "The Quiet Warrior."
